早晨，今日我想問一問大家，特別是中一同學，有否在一樓近小賣部的樓梯邊，發現一幅油畫，上面寫上徐甘弟大呢？大家又有否聽過她的名字？今天，我想同大家分享她的故事。 徐甘弟大，大家當然不認識，但數學中的幾何 – Geometry，數學書應該會見過。原來中國在明朝時，傳教士利瑪竇和中國大儒徐光啟已一同翻譯西學書籍，當中他們更合譯了一書，名叫《幾何原本》。而徐光啟的孫女，便是徐甘弟大了。而徐氏一家是天主教徒，因此徐甘弟大便是她的領洗後的名字，她一生樂善好施，對教會的貢獻甚大，被後世稱為「中國女柱石」。在她身上，除了見證了慈愛，亦體現到自律的精神。 她的一生努力幫助神父傳福音，以手工與節儉，將省下的金錢幫助教會。她天天在家中刺花繡綿，再拿出去賣，以供養教士、救濟窮人、建聖堂祈禱。因此，在上海松江一帶，便先後建造了大堂九十座、小堂四十座，都是徐甘弟大贊助而成的。 透過徐甘弟大的事跡，我們可以看到一位女子的堅持、自律，只是單靠做刺繡，便可以供養教士，甚至建造教堂。因此，同學們，希望大家不要看輕今天的自己，只要大家自律、自強，終能有一番成就。 Ms Chan KY
