賣牛的故事

這個月的主題是正直誠實,我想和大家分享一個關於賣牛的故事。 魏晉南北朝時期,有個名叫明山賓的讀書人。明山賓年輕時家境清寒,一次他為了三餐温飽,不得不變賣家裏的財產,可是他家裏根本沒有甚麼值錢的事物,只有父親留下的一頭牛。明山賓無奈之下,亦只好把那頭老牛牽到集市上去賣,他等了半天,好不容易才把牛賣出去。 明山賓賣完牛後,就拿着錢歡天喜地地準備回家了。突然,他看着買家牽着老牛逐漸遠去的背影,想起這頭牛從前得過蹄疾,如果勞動過累,或者所居住的牛棚過於潮濕,就很容易會舊病復發。而新主人不知道這頭牛的病歷,不正確地飼養的話,牛就可能會因生病而無法繼續勞作。各位同學,如果你是明山賓,你會怎樣做呢?你會冒着被要求退款的風險,主動跟買家說明這件事,還是會保持沉默,拿着錢離開? 明山賓選擇成為一個正直誠實的人,他匆忙地趕回去找買家,把牛的病史和正確的飼養方法坦誠告知對方,還把部分金錢退還給買家。明山賓安排好一切後,便懷着輕鬆的心情回家了。 明山賓主動把牛的情況告訴買主,更主動退回部分金錢。雖然明山賓所獲得的金錢少了,但卻獲得心靈上的滿足和安定,因為他做了正確的事,實踐了正確的價值。在日常生活中,我們亦經常面對類似的兩難情況。在欠做功課的時候,我們是要誠實正直地主動承認錯誤,還是為了避免被老師責罰而說謊?在不會做考試題目的時候,我們是要坦誠面對自己的不足,還是作弊取得更高的分數?希望大家都可以像明山賓一樣,做正確的選擇,實踐正確的價值。   Ms Lam YC 9 January 2024
