Shung Tak Prefects’ Board
The Prefects’ Board at Shung Tak is a cornerstone of our school. Comprising dedicated and highly responsible student leaders, the Board acts as a vital bridge between the students and the school administration.
As student leaders in a Catholic school, our prefects model Servant Leadership, the idea that to lead is, first and foremost, to serve others with humility, empathy, and love.
Scriptural Inspiration
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” — 1 Timothy 4:12
Our Mission
The primary mission of the Prefects’ Board is to safeguard the overall safety, order, and discipline of students at Shung Tak. Guided by Catholic social teachings, we aim to maintain a structured, respectful, and harmonious campus environment. We believe that by fostering a community of mutual respect, we create an atmosphere highly conducive to academic excellence, personal growth, and spiritual development.
Core Values in Action
In carrying out our daily duties, the Prefects’ Board strives to embody the foundational Catholic values of Truth, Justice, and Love:
Promoting Exemplary Campus Behaviour (Love & Family):
We monitor and encourage respectful behavior across campus. Rather than merely “policing” peers, our goal is to build a supportive, family-like environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued.
Upholding the Uniform Policy (Identity & Unity):
We help students honour our school community by complying with the uniform policy. We view the uniform not as a restriction, but as a symbol of our shared identity, equality, and pride as “Shungtakians”.
Encouraging Punctuality (Responsibility & Justice):
Promptness is a matter of respect for our teachers and fellow classmates. By promoting punctuality, we teach self-discipline and stewardship of the time God has given us.
Event Leadership & Support (Service & Collaboration):
Our team provides vital organizational support during major school events like sports days, and Open Day. Through this active participation, prefects practice collaborative leadership to ensure school functions run smoothly.
Our Motto in Daily Life
In alignment with the Shung Tak motto, “Ora et Labora” (Pray and Work), our prefects blend active service with a prayerful heart, working tirelessly to glorify the Creator in all that they do.
