Shung Tak Catholic English College which was located in the early days in Yuen Long, and more specifically in Shui Pin Wai, was relocated to Hung Shui Kiu in January 1993. It is an aided Diocesan school and the move to Hung Shui Kiu, an area between Yuen Long and Tuen Mun, was decided on as the student population grew. The area is a fast-developing rural residential area with several Housing Authority blocks already completed as of 2023.
The area continues to expand with the construction of a Hung Shui Kiu Railway Station along the existing Tuen Ma Line to serve the area. This station will serve as a “Regional Economic and Civic Hub” for the Northwest New Territories with the aim of boosting economic development. The proposed station will be located in the new development area and will become an important infrastructure to facilitate the development of the region. The project is earmarked to begin in 2024.
At present, the school can be accessed easily on public transportation using the bus, mini-bus and the Light Rail Transit trains.
