Good morning. We are the representatives of Movie Appreciation Club. The theme of this month is taking responsibility. Each person plays different roles in daily life, no matter at home, at school or in society, every one of them is always linked with a corresponding duty. However, to be a responsible person doesn’t simply mean being committed and serious to their position.
To begin with, let’s take a famous movie as an example.
“With great power comes great responsibility” is a classic quote from Spider-Man. After Peter Parker discovered that he had superpowers, he understood every single action of him would make an impact on the world. He could choose to abuse his powers, but instead, he kept his uncle’s saying in mind. Knowing the mission of being a superhero is to maintain justice, he saved millions of citizens. Some may see having high status as a burden, but it’s just because of the more responsibilities we are required to bear. With greater ability, we should be able to assist others and distinguish what is the right thing to do as well. However, does this mean it is needless to take up any responsibility if we don’t have the ability? Those who have such a kind of mindset only treat this as an excuse to shift the blame.
Instead of letting a leader bear full responsibility for the results, all groupmates should try their best to complete a task together. Instead of complaining to our parents for not doing this and that, we shouldn’t take their care for granted. Each and every one of us cannot escape from responsibility as others do not have extra obligations. In other words, we should have the courage to admit our mistakes.
Living in a civil society, what’s more important is to be aware of our words and actions. You never know which word from your mouth will leave a scar on others, that’s why it is necessary to think twice before you speak. Whether it is in real life or the anonymous virtual world, a word spoken is past recalling. There will always be consequences for any action. Therefore, it is crucial to be responsible for what we have done, or on a higher level, we should be responsible to ourselves. Every decision we make directly affects our own lives, and only we can pay the bill for our choices. Only when we have the ability to make independent judgments, we can further think of being responsible for other’s lives.
