“When and where you are born, what your parents did for a living, and what the circumstances of your upbringing were made a significant difference in how well you do in the world.” Malcom Gladwell once said that in the book “Outliers”. Our parents play a huge role in our lives, they gave birth to us, worked hard for a living, and took good care of us. It is our parents who have always been there for us since we were young, whenever we are sad, lonely, or even just hungry and want to eat some food. Under the love and care of our parents, we were able to grow up in a happy and sufficient environment to who we are right now. Therefore, we should love our parents just like how they love us.
“But how do we show our love to our parents? We don’t have the ability to earn money and pay back yet.” Don’t worry, there are things we can do in our daily lives to show love to our parents.
To begin with, a simple conversation will do the trick. Expressing care from our words is the easiest and most straightforward method. It is totally understandable that we are not willing to show too much enthusiasm, embarrassing right? So it is not a must to suddenly say something like “I love you so much” or “Thanks for your upbringing”. It might make the atmosphere weird and uneasy for both us and our parents. Then how? You might ask. Well, the answer is take it slowly. You can start with easier expressions, like asking whether your parents are feeling well, or thanking them for cooking dinner for you. These can already show your love and gratitude to your parents.
Besides using words, actions would help too. Spending some time doing housework is a good way to express your love because it shows that you understand how tired doing housework is so you help your parents. It does not only reduce the burden of your parents, but also helps you realise the difficulties of doing housework. You can also give your parents a massage when they come home from work, which can help relieve their stress and tiredness. It can show that you care about them as well.
