Welcome back for the school year 2022-2023. I hope you all had a restful summer break and are ready for the new school year.
Though the pandemic still lingers on, we thank our Lord for making it possible for us to return to the school campus on the first day of school to meet our teachers and fellow schoolmates.
Due to the pandemic, things we had always taken for granted have become extravagant hopes —-– face-to-face learning, campus activities, going out for lunch in big groups. While it appears that we have been deprived of a lot from our school life especially in terms of interaction, what is reassuring is that our support for each other has bolstered us up during this extraordinary time.
As a new year has begun, let us remind ourselves that Shung Tak is a haven of joy and love, as what St Paul, one of our patron saints, has written in the First Letter to the Corinthians,
“Love is always patient and kind; love is never jealous; love is not boastful or conceited, it is never rude and never seeks its own advantage, it does not take offence or store up grievances. Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but finds its joy in the truth. It is always ready to make allowances, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes. Love never comes to an end.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
As the Principal of STC, I hope all Shungtakians can remember what St Paul says by putting love into action. We all have a role to play in keeping Shung Tak to be a place where we can find truth, love, justice, life and family. Let’s work together to turn the school into a better place for us all.
