Long time ago, there lived a flock of pigeons in a dense forest. During the daytime, the pigeons used to fly all over the jungle in search of food and water.
One day, while searching for food, the pigeons saw rice grains spread on the ground. All the pigeons, at once, decided fly down and eat the rice grains.
Suddenly a net fell over them and they were all trapped. They saw a hunter approaching, carrying a huge club. The pigeons were desperately trying to free themselves from the net by pulling the net in their own direction, but they were just stuck in it.
A wise old pigeon had an idea. “Stop pulling the net in your own direction. Instead, try to fly up together and carry the net with you”, it advised. All the pigeons did as told. They started flapping their wings together and in no time started flying together, carrying the net with them. The hunter saw this act of unity in disbelief. He tried to follow them, but the pigeons were flying high over hills, that the hunter was not able to catch them.
The pigeons then flew to find their faithful friend, a mouse, which used its sharp teeth to cut the net into pieces, and set all of them free.
Students, what do you learn from this story? We get stronger when we work together. Unity is strength. Here is a quote from Malcolm X, ‘When “I” is replaced with “we”, even illness becomes wellness.’
As part of ShungTak, let’s unite together and make the school a better place. Just like the pigeons in the story, with a common goal and beliefs, we can establish the bonding among us, work in solidarity, and therefore accomplish more and achieve higher.
