We all have our strengths and weaknesses in learning, whether it’s in certain subjects or in other aspects. However, have you ever noticed that some people may have learning difficulties that make it significantly harder for them to learn? From the previous sharing, you may recall that one of the examples, dyslexia is a learning disorder that affects reading and spelling. But there are other learning difficulties commonly seen in Hong Kong, such as ADHD(注意力不足/過度活躍症)and ASD(自閉症).
According to a 2022 research study, about 11% of public sector school students suffer from various learning difficulties. Your teachers, classmates or even yourself may also be facing these challenges. It’s important to remember that their behaviour may appear unusual, but most of them were born with neurological disorders, which they may not be able to control.
So we should avoid laughing at someone who is suffering from these learning difficulties. Instead, we can show our understanding and offer a helping hand to them. Let’s create an inclusive environment where everyone can learn together.
