Solidarity is closely related to the word solid. In science, solid is formed by packing particles closely together with strong forces. Meanwhile, one ‘s movement will easily affect the other particles and change their condition. To let all of you know more about solidarity, we would like to share the story of a very famous soccer team, the Leicester City Football Club to you all.
The story begins with a tragic incident in 2018. The boss of the football club, Vichai, lose his life when his helicopter crashed on 27 October 2018. Fans and players of the football club are very sad. Many people expected the Leicester City Football Club will have poor perform in the upcoming seasons. However, to appreciate all the passions and efforts that had been devoted by their boss to the football club, and to show everyone that they are still a good team, the Leicester City Football Club players went against all odds. They defeated the Manchester United in the Quarter-final, crushed the Southampton in the Semi-final, and finally won the champion by knocking off the Chelsea in the 2021 FA Cup Final.
So, what can u learn from their inspirational story? Do you recognize the talents of these players and start watching their games? Would you be surprised by their perseverance when playing against other strong teams? To us, we think the most impressive session of the story lies down to their solidarity during the hardest time. To be honest, nobody could predict the future of the Leicester city after the tragedy. Losing the boss of the football club has severe impacts to the operation of the team. However, the players never give up and stayed together as a team. They show us the power of solidarity, which eventually lead them to success.
Particle could be small and weak when it is seen as an individual, however, if they can group together and form a solid, their bonding can hold them tightly and make them strong. And it is also true to us as well. A single man can be weak and tiny, but they become unbreakable when solidarity present between them. As a student, solidarity is also an essential component in our life. When we stay together, solidarity gives us courage and confidence to stand against challenges.
In our lifetime, we will witness the comes and goes of people around us, and it is inevitable. For S6 students, we will leave the school campus in a few months’ time. We are going to miss our best friends, teachers and our classrooms. However, separating physically may not necessarily break up our bonding with each other. It will be tough to face the DSE, but we believe that every member of our class will help each other. We hoped that the spirit of solidarity can guide us to success, help us to conquer the DSE and obtain good results.
