The hard work behind the scenes

Good morning. We are from the Students’ Union Hestiuz. With the election day last Friday, it signals the nearing end of our service, as well as that of prefects, house captains, clubs, societies and different ambassadors, and many more student leaders to our school. These student leaders work hard every day to facilitate the proper running of the school. While we enjoy a Shung Tak molded by all these different groups, we should understand that their contributions are solely based on their helping and passionate hearts.

Think of what different students have done for us daily, and you may start to realize and understand what their actions truly mean. Health ambassadors and Prefects come back to school before anyone else just to ensure everyone is well dressed and healthy to start the day. Sometimes we have broadcasting for morning assembly, and the campus tv is always there to help out. During lunchtime and after school, different clubs hold various activities for Shungtakians to participate in. As you can see, the wonderful life we have now as a Shungtakian is hugely thanks to our humble servant leaders who give a hundred percent of their effort in their regular duties.

The key to continue this kind of school life is by understanding each other, both from the perspective of student leaders and other students. For student leaders, their job is to listen and understand what other students want and need. Afterward, they must balance all options and come up with the best plan that fits what most Shungtakians desire. For other students, they have to understand that certain difficulties faced by student leaders, and that nothing is ever perfect.

However, some students seem to fail to understand the hard work behind the scenes. The theme of this month is to show understanding. We hope that no matter what your role is in this school, whether you are the smallest pickle or the largest potato, you will still be able to show understanding towards each other and their efforts that may not be shown but are hugely important to the facilitation of our wonderful school life.

We hope that all Shungtakians can show understanding to all the contributors.
