As the theme for this month is Simplicity and Sharing, I am going to tell you a little story about sharing simplicity – about the exchange of a glance between two strangers – between me and a little girl.
I am on the LRT Route 751 commuting to school. People are sandwiched in the compartments and I am seated by the window. As the LRT is approaching Ginza station, there is another incoming LRT at the platform opposite.
Almost at the same time, both trains stop. There it is – through the window my eyes meet the eyes of a little girl, who is also seated by the window. Soon our eyes are locked as our trains idle. Behind my mask, I smile. She does the same. She blinks at me and so do I. I blink at her and so does she. Our trains depart after.
I am grateful I have the little girl to share that brief, beautiful moment with, when we are both present. That to me is sharing simplicity. Likewise, I am grateful for the time I am sharing with you now.
