Start treasuring every little moment

Obstacles are unavoidable in our lives, every single thing we experience teaches us something, and shapes who we are. So we have to cherish every opportunity that we are given and try to live our fragile yet strong life to its fullest. To further understand the meaning of this month’s theme, we would like to share with you a story .

There once was a girl who unfortunately caught SLE. SLE is a disease in which the body’s immune system attacks healthy tissue of the body, and in some serious cases might even lead to death. The fates are cruel, unfortunately this girl was one of the cases. Despite being just a teen, she knew she won’t have much time left so she decided to do something she likes with every day she lives. Having a great time with her family and friends, she was smiling everyday even though deep inside she knew her time was coming. Soon, she had a checkup again. To her surprise, she was tested recovered from her disease. Her life wasn’t in danger anymore.

In the story, instead of complaining about how unfair it is that her friends can enjoy their lovely youth, while she silently waits for her end. The girl stayed positive even when her days were ticking, and she eventually recovered miraculously. Treasuring your life isn’t only because of how vulnerable it is, remember, a short and bright life is always better than a long and miserable one. Learn from your mistakes, embrace your talents, and enjoy the challenging but exciting life of a human.

This story might seem impossible, but it’s actually a true story. Death might also seem very far to us, but who knows when exactly will time run out? According to bible Ephesians 5:15-16, “be very careful, then, how you live–not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” Therefore, we should cherish every second in our life, the ups and also the downs, so that we will leave this world one day with memories instead of regrets.

Take a look around at your classmates, they are very annoying right, I know… But think about this, a few years later, you will graduate from Shung Tak, and all of this will just be the past, whether it’s a memory or regret, it’s up to you now to pave your way to your destination. Maybe you find a guy chatting or asking you questions in class annoying, sorry not sorry teachers, or find having lunch in the cafeteria with your friends very common, but those little banters are going to be precious memories in just a blink of an eye. So start treasuring every little moment now, don’t wait till it’s all over and regret.
