Good morning. We are the Social Service Society. The theme of this month is: “As God’s stewards, be kind to all living beings.” As stewards of God’s creation, we are entrusted with the responsibility to care for others and show compassion to everything around us. One of the most powerful ways we can live out this responsibility is by actively spreading kindness in our daily lives, especially to those in need.
One meaningful way to do this is through volunteering. Volunteering not only allows us to give back to the community, but it also strengthens the bonds within our Shungtakian family. Just last week, our Form 5 students, including us, participated in the Flag Selling Day. We were stationed in different areas across Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai, engaging with passersby and encouraging them to support the cause. Although it was a simple act, standing on the streets and selling flags, each flag represented a small act of kindness, a gesture of care from the donors to the underprivileged in our society.
Another highlight is the annual Caritas Bazaar. This event is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of generosity and community spirit. Every year, our schoolmates enthusiastically donate useful items and volunteer their time and energy to support the event. From organizing and arranging goods to promoting and selling them, each task is carried out with the goal of bringing joy and relief to those who are less fortunate. Over the years, the funds raised have made a meaningful difference in the lives of many disadvantaged families.
You may be wondering: “What if I don’t have time to volunteer?” That’s okay. Kindness isn’t limited to physical service. Through donations, we can also make a significant impact. Take, for example, Dress Casual Day. Many of our students and teachers contributed by making donations, showing that even small acts of giving can go a long way in supporting those in need.
Though our small simple actions of spreading kindness may seem little alone, with more people doing them continuously, these little bits of kindness add up into something that could brighten up others’ lives. Therefore, we, as God’s stewards, should be generous to share our kindness towards others and lend a helping hand to the needy.
