Proper Actions and Positive Communications

I want to begin my sharing with a role play game. Imagine the teacher in your classroom is your son or daughter. You come home after work and see your child playing online game. What will you say to him or her? Would teachers please invite 3 students in your class to talk to you.

This is the reply of your child. ‘Mum and dad, I have finished all my homework and done revision for everything being taught today. I have also tidied up my room. I am using my spare time to play with my friends for a while’. Now, what will you reply to your child? The 3 invited students please give reply to your child.

Another situation now, students, you find your kid’s, the teacher’s, test result is worse than your expectation. What will you say to him or her? Would teachers please invite another 3 students to act as your parents?

‘Mum and dad, I did pay attention in class and study very hard already. I don’t know what else I could do to improve’. Students, what will you say to your kid? Would the 3 students continue their conversations with the teacher now. There are many other situations I would like you to try. However, we have limited-time in the assembly. You may continue the game in your class if there is time left.

My theme today is ‘the good relationship between children and parents depends mainly on proper actions and positive communications’. You may say that my parents will not react in a positive way. It is a fact that we cannot manage what other people will do. But, we can begin with our own proper and use positive communications.
