為何每年我們都會向着個蛋糕許願？為什麼生日值得慶祝而且我地又會去許願呢？對我來說，生日對於每個人來說都是一個呼喚新希望的象徵，好事從我們的生日開始。 天主教會在今天慶祝聖母瑪利亞的誕辰，這個日期是傳統固定的九月八日。教會自至少六世紀以來就慶祝瑪利亞的誕辰。選擇九月出生的日期是因為東方教會將九月作為教會年的開始。 關於瑪利亞的嬰兒時期和幼年時期的情況並沒有直接記載在《聖經》中，但其他一些最早期的基督教作家編寫的文獻和傳統記載了她出生的情況。在聖雅各伯書中，它描述了瑪利亞的父親若亞敬是以色列的一個富有的人。若亞敬和他的妻子亞納因沒有孩子而深感悲痛。他們想到了亞伯郎，在天主賜予他兒子依撒格的最後一天。若亞敬和亞納開始專心祈禱。起初，他們感到沮喪，因為即使他們盡了最大的努力祈禱，他們仍然無法生育，他們認為這是天主不滿意他們的祈禱的跡象。最終，這對夫婦得到的祝福甚至超過了亞巴郎和撒辣，一個天使出現在亞納面前，對她說，所有的世代都將尊重他們未來的孩子：“上主垂聽了你的祈禱，你將受孕並生子，並且你的後代將在全世界被人提及。”在瑪利亞出生後，他們為她設立了一個“bb房”，當她一歲時，像香港的許多父母一樣，她的父親為瑪利亞舉辦了一次盛大的生日派對，他邀請了祭司、經師、長老參加盛宴。 如前所述，我們可以將每個人的誕生視為世界上新希望的呼喚。父母的愛與天主的創造工作相結合。在充滿困難和挑戰的世界中，你的誕生令到很多人充滿平安與希望，你的誕生對你的父母和家人來說意義重大。 生日慶祝活動不僅為壽星帶來快樂，也為家人和朋友帶來快樂。除了耶穌的誕生之外，聖母的誕生為世界帶來了最大的幸福。讓我們不要忘記今天是聖母的生日，她的誕生是耶穌來臨的先聲，耶穌是人類和平的根源，讓我們都能分享這份平安。 Mr Kwan YW7 September 2023
