Today, I want to share a story about Rowan Atkinson, the actor of Mr. Bean.
Rowan finished his master’s degree in electrical engineering in 1978. Instead of working in an engineering firm, Rowan realized acting was something he wanted to pursue. He got himself enrolled in a comedy group in 1979. However, he kept getting rejected by all TV companies because he did not have a good appearance and muscular body. Also, he suffers from stammering which means he kept on repeating sounds when he is reading the script.
With all those difficulties, some of his friends suggested Rowan to leave his comedy group and offer him an engineer post. However, Rowan rejected this offer and kept working hard on acting comedy. At first, He started to create some original comedy sketches and trained himself to speak fluently in front of his audiences. Ten years later, Rowan finally has a significant breakthrough when he started his own show, Mr. Bean. He proved that even without a charming face and muscular body shape, everyone could still become a loved and respected actor.
So, students if you are weak at particular aspects, stop attributing your weaknesses to the born feature. Your perseverance can help you to overcome this.
