Love is patient, this sentence comes from Corinthians. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Remember ‘The Last Supper’? Jesus with his 12 disciples had the last supper in Rome. That evening Jesus sat down at the table with the apostles to eat his final meal before going to the cross. As they dined together, he told the twelve disciples that one of them would soon betray him. However, he did not reveal who it was. He knew who was going to betray him but he chose not to say it as he loves his disciples. Love is patient, love is kind. Love keeps no record of wrongs. Just like how others may sin against you, do not hate them, do not hurt them. As we always love them, forgive them.
Have you ever not been patient and kind to others? Take myself as an example, it is believed that most of us have been scolded by our parents because of our behavior. There was once a time when I was scolded by my mum because I played computer games for 3 hours almost every day. It was at that day I had an argument with my mum about it. I myself was hoping to play more computer games while my mum tried to stop me. At first, I believed that my mum was trying to stop me from having fun but after the exam a month later, I realized that what I had done was wrong. My academic performance was not as well as last time and I have failed some of the subjects. I left myself alone for 2 hours blaming why I did not study more and do better. It was then I understood why my mum wanted me to stop playing computer games. She knew what would happen if I continued my gaming every day. What she did was for my own good but I ignored it, just like what you may do when you think your parents are annoying. Love is patient, love is kind. Be patient with your family, then know what will happen to you as they love and care about you.
It is never easy to become a patient and kind person, but there are ways to help you become such a person. One, show your care to others. Be kind and considerate to your friends, family and others. When something happens, put yourself in their shoes, think of what they are thinking and what they may do. Two, cool down yourself. Allow time to cool off yourself before doing anything that will hurt others around you. Spend more time to think more about what you have done, what you should do, if this makes you too angry etc. Three, forgive others. People will not forgive others easily as they have offended you. Therefore it is important to learn how to forgive others, especially your family and friends. There are still lots of ways to become a patient and kind person. You may find a way by yourself too. Just remember Love is patient and love is kind.
It is hoped that everyone here can be patient and kind to others. After the morning prayer, please reflect on the time when you are not patient and kind to others and think of any ways to improve. Just like how Jesus loves us, we should all love others because Love is patient, love is kind.
