Blood is a body fluid in animals circulated around the body through blood vessels that performs many important functions including:
• Supply of oxygen and nutrients to tissues;
• Removal of waste;
• Regulation of body pH and temperature;
• Act as a medium for transporting hormones, white blood cells, blood platelets and
antibodies.
Because of the complicated constituents of the blood, even with the advancement of medical technology nowadays, artificial blood is not yet being invented. That means, we entirely count on the blood donors to provide fresh blood products for the patients because of illness or accident.
After the collection of blood, it will be processed into its components, followed by tests for infectious diseases and bacteria before being used in various treatments. Your single donation can help 3 or more patients, so please do not underestimate your contribution.
On 9th and 10th of November, that are the coming Wednesday and Thursday, our school will work together with the Red Cross to held a ‘Blood donation’ activity. For all students aged 16 or above are eligible to join. If you still not yet submit your parent’s consent letter to me or has changed mind and would like to join now, please contact me by today before 4pm.
Furthermore, there are several guided tours to visit the blood donation coach during the recess, lunch or afterschool during these two days. Please fill the google form if you would like to know more about blood donation. The link to the google form is shared on the Bio club Instagram page. There is only limited quota, first come first serve.
To donate blood is a very good way to show your Love!
