Look into each other’s hearts and understand…

Today, we are going to share with you about showing understanding towards friends, family, and the people in the society.

Friends:

A: I think we need to include more pictures on this PowerPoint slide. There are too many words now.

B: There’s no space anymore. If we delete these words, the messages will be unclear.

A: You don’t really know the requirements of the project.

B: Then you finish the work yourself!

We all know that it is not easy to maintain friendship with others. Friends may break up because of a tiny conflict or an argument. Sometimes, our friends may not share the same view with us and we may then consider them as inconsiderate or they don’t understand us. Instead of just focusing on expressing our opinions, why don’t we try to listen more and think from others’ perspective? If we really care about our friends, I’m sure it’s not hard to spend more time listening to them. Friends’ opinions are valuable and their views also matter.

Family:

Mom: I suppose you have to start doing revision or else you will not do well in exam. Also, your desk is so messy. Can you tidy it up?

Daughter: I’m very tired now. Can I do it later? Why do you always nag at me?

Mom: Please be polite. I just remind you to do what you have to.

Daughter: I can manage my things and you don’t have to worry about me.

Mom: Fine.

When was your last time arguing with your parents? And how did it happen? A lot of teenagers quarrel with their parents because they think that parents aren’t giving them space to do what they like but just constantly nagging.

Parents sometimes do not allow us to do this and that and keep reminding us to do these and those. Afterall, they care so much about us and they want us to have a better future. We should understand their love and show them respect by listening to them patiently.

The society:

Besides showing understanding towards our friends and family, we should also show understanding towards people in the society. How will you react if someone on streets accidentally steps on your shoes? What will you do if someone bumps into you? Will you feel annoyed or angry? We should always be patient and put ourselves in others’ place. If everyone of us is more understanding, there will be less conflicts and arguments among people.

Conclusion:

A politician, Marvin J. Ashton once said ‘If we could look into each other’s hearts and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care’. We should always understand each other to make the world become better.

It is hoped that God will grant us wisdom and kindness to love the people around us.
