We are going to talk about how we can express our patient love. According to one of the Bible verses, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others; it is not self-seeking.” Seems like patient love is hard to achieve, but actually, it is not as complicated as you think. Let us use some daily examples to explain what is “love is patient”.
Have you ever heard your parents asking you to do homework or revision continuously? Have you ever seen your teachers keep chasing you to hand in your homework if you don’t hand in on time? To be honest, they can just let you go without any care, they might just be wasting their time to remind you about everything, and this is not enjoyable to them. But because of love, they are willing to teach you patiently, as they just want their students to be better.
Let us explain more about “patient love” by using the acronym P-A-T-I-E-N-T. To start with, P means peaceful. Patient people express their love in peaceful resolve. Impatient people make others anxious and unnerved about their situation. A stands for accepting. We need to accept all the differences from others, like how God accepted us even when we were sinners. T, trusting. We have to have trust in God and we should be willing to follow the instructions and directions from him. I mean insightful. We should discern others difficulties and show our patient love to them.
E stand for encouraging. Loving a discouraged person requires much patient. We should express our patient love to them in this hopeless situation. N is for negotiable. We should demonstrate our love out of the willingness and put the interests of others before ourselves. Lastly, T mean timing. We should wait for God’s timing. When that time comes, that’s the opportunity for us to show our love to others.
Patient love is persistent love. Like how God loves us, his love will never cease. His love is patient and unfailing throughout our lives, and he will always be with us. Now, let us try to show our love to our classmates, teacher, friends, and neighbours.
