Join hands and make a difference

People care for the weak in different ways and different forms. The wealthy donate a big sum of money to charities. Volunteering teams visit the elderly home to create a festive atmosphere for the lonely elderly. Restaurants send free lunch boxes to the homeless who cannot afford to buy one. The incentives of the above behaviors can basically be summarized as helping the people in our community who are in need.

Students always wonder whether their help makes much difference when they are not financially capable. But in fact, every bit counts. As a member of the community, we should shoulder the responsibility and do everything we can to make the place full of warmth and love. We can start by looking at the people around us, in which there are a lot of people in need who are being ignored by the community. Let us share a news highlight from last year’s Christmas.

Last year, all of us were enjoying the time of Christmas. We had a lot of good times at home, but we seemed to forget there were homeless people suffering from the cold weather with temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. As they had to look after their own belongings, they couldn’t go to the temporary cold shelters, they had no choice but to continue staying on the street. They could only use blankets or cardboards to keep themselves warm, which was obviously not effective. Therefore, as a part of the community, we should take the responsibility to help those people in need. By making donations to the charity, we could provide resources and financial support to the weak. By showing our love and care, we could provide warmth to the weak. Just a simple action still means a lot to the weak.

Not only the homeless, there are still many underprivileged who need our help, such as the elderly, the poor, people with disabilities, and many more. Just a single one of us might not be able to make a big change, but when all of us join our effort together, we can make a huge difference.
