Good morning. We are the representatives of the ARC. Today, we would like to share with you the story of Nick Vujicic, who spreads the wonders of God. Nick was diagnosed with tetra-amelia syndrome, which means he was bo=rn without arms and legs.
From the very beginning, his parents struggled to accept his appearance and refused to hold him after his birth. During his school years, Nick faced bullying from classmates who teased him, hit him, and called him ugly. These experiences led him to feel depressed and humiliated, with the cruel words of others echoing in his mind each day.
He felt as though his life was entirely a waste and even attempted suicide in a desperate bid to escape from reality. However, his plans failed, as the love and support of his parents uplifted his spirits and guided him back to God’s path.
Nick tackled his physical and emotional challenges by shifting his perspective from what he lacked to what he could achieve through faith and a sense of humor. Despite being born without limbs, he has traveled to over 78 countries to share his message of “life without limits.” He famously uses his condition for playful pranks, such as hiding in a suitcase to surprise and scare his friends.
Nick also holds a Guinness World Record for giving the most hugs in one hour, which is 1,749 hugs, to be exact. He has proven that even though he may not have arms to wrap around someone, he has more than enough heart to make them feel supported.
A: Wow, how wonderful Nick is! It can be really hard to remain hopeful in these kinds of situations… I always lose faith in my ability to succeed whenever I face difficulties that seem insurmountable.
J: You can learn from Nick. Nick was born without arms and legs. In fact, he has found it challenging to maintain relationships with others. He was teased by his schoolmates and felt bad about it. But he never loses hope. He accepts the differences between himself and others and tries his best to live the most remarkable journey of his life.
A: Looking back, I remember that I once studied very hard toward a goal, believing that pure effort alone would get me where I wanted to be. But when things got tough and I faced setbacks, I lost that simple belief. I felt defeated, like I was failing before I even began. However, I found out something: hope isn’t about everything going right; it’s about finding meaning in the struggles.
J: That’s right! God has prepared a path that suits us best. It may be full of obstacles and hard to navigate, but holding onto hope helps us move forward. We all have to face difficulties in our lives, but we must learn that challenges help us grow. So never give up! Keep hope within yourself, and do your best to take it step by step toward success. “Disability to ability” — just as Nick says, for every disability you have, you are blessed with more than enough abilities to overcome your challenges.
We are all wonderful creations of God, and He has crafted the most perfect plan for our lives. Sometimes, we must accept our imperfections and the differences between ourselves and others. These differences are not here to make us fail; rather, they are learning opportunities that help us shine brighter in the future.
Hope never fails us. It helps us accept our weaknesses and overcome difficulties, giving us the courage to face adversity. By accepting ourselves and trusting that God is there to guide us every step of the way, we can become “super warriors”like Nick in the story—accepting our weaknesses and spreading hope to others.
In doing so, we can not only inspire ourselves but also uplift those around us.
