God shows patience to us and how we should return

You might have heard of many sharings and examples about the theme of this month, “Love is Patience”. Patience is important to everyone. You may not notice, but many Shungtakians do have this personality. We help others patiently in various roles. We show love towards others when we are serving them. However, when we are the ones in need, we could easily get lost if we can’t produce a possible solution immediately or we can’t get the help from others. Eventually, we may lose hope and give up easily. At the moment when we are depressed, have you all though of seeking help from God? We know that God loves us. Inevitably, there are times that he doesn’t answer us. Does it mean that he no longer loves us? Before jumping to that, do remember that love is patience. Are you devoted to loving God? Are you patient in waiting for God’s blessing?

What does the Bible tell us about patience? I believe most of you have heard of a very famous Bible story, Noah’s Ark. God asked Noah to build an ark carrying pairs of every kind of creature together with his family in order to safeguard them from a flood. Guess when did God approach him again? It was after 100 years when Noah turned 600 years old. Imagine if you received a task that will take you a decade to complete, step by step everyday without knowing when it is exactly for, how would you feel? We may question if it is a lie or give up when the answer doesn’t come up within a few months. On the contrary, Noah completed his task given by God patiently without struggling nor questioning why. At last, God flooded the earth and saved Noah’s family as promised. It was what Noah’s patience to God in return for.

Shungtakians, we should learn from Noah. He faithfully followed God, even though it was a tough, time-consuming and probably a far-fetched mission to complete. He reminds us that being patient is always possible. With God in charge, we can also cultivate patience and thus show love to everyone.
