Good morning.
Yesterday we celebrated Founders Day and you heard the sharing from Ms Amy Yeung, a graduate of Shung Tak in 1974. Amy today is very active in our school, coming back not just for the sharing yesterday but she also helps with the calligraphy interest classes. Amy is a beautiful example of what Shung Tak is all about. We want all of our students to feel a strong sense of belonging to this family of Shung Tak and to have gratitude for their years here.
We shall soon be celebrating the 65th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service where this family of Shung Tak would be giving thanks to Jesus for giving us the past 65 years. The school has this history because many Shungtakians have worked hard to build this history, and I trust that we who are here in this school today would continue to add to this legacy, making STC stronger and better.
Our theme this month is Caring for Others, and this is expressed in our acts of kindness, of love, of compassion and generosity. Each one of us as a caring individual who cares for our school, and for what our predecessors has worked hard to build would make this school stand strong. Have that sense of selflessness and care for our school by doing your part as a student of this school, as a member of staff of this school. Take this beyond it being a job or a task!
As Ms Yeung said: ‘The number 65 represents not just a figure; it embodies the stories of Shung Tak people, each story interwoven into our history. So, do not underestimate the significance of anything you do now.
I too, like Ms Yeung, hope that the wonderful legacy of Shung Tak continues. Happy Anniversary Shung Tak. Let us say our school prayer together in thanksgiving and in praise:
Make us receptive and open
And may we accept your kingdom
Like children taking bread from the hands of their father
Let us live in your peace at home with you
all the days of our life,
Amen.
Ms. B Lee
