Empathy in our school life

Empathy is understanding how other people feel and being able to share their feelings. It means that for a little while you more worried about how they feel than how you feel. Here is an example: Your classmate is making fun of a boy who wore dirty shoes to school. You might want to laugh with your classmate so that he will like you, but that is not the right thing to do. You should stop and take a minute to think about how the boy feels. Maybe he can’t afford to buy new shoes. Think about what Jesus would do and act like him. How do you think He would act? Maybe you should try to quickly change the subject or befriend the boy with the dirty shoes. Empathy is thinking about how the other person feel and treating them with kindness instead of just doing whatever you want to do.

Reading from Bible:

Romans 12:15

Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.

I Corinthians 12:26

If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

Galatians 6:2

Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Hebrews 13:3

Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.

Empathy is the ability to understand and share feelings of another. Empathy helps us imagine what life is really like for another person. It helps us understand what makes them happy, sad or angry. There are around 30 students in a class. We all come from different families. We have the chance to be in the same class. Hope all of us can show empathy on one another, experience love in the class in our school life.
