The topic of this month is Love is kind. I believe all of you have already listened to how love is patient and love is kind. However, what is kindness? It means to help others with sympathy and consideration no matter who the target is. Loving will help you show kindness will express your love.
Before our sharing, let’s listen to part of a song by Sammi Cheng called 「加爾各答的天使」.(Click Here to Listen)
Have you ever heard this song before? Maybe Mr. Kwan has played it during RS lesson but do you know who this song is about? It’s Saint Teresa of Calcutta, or you may have heard of her another name, Mother Teresa. She started off as a missionary nun when she was young. She answered God’s calling, and went to Calcutta, a poor city in India, to spread God’s love when she was only 18.
Mother Teresa then dedicated her whole life to caring for the destitute and dying in the slums of Calcutta. When she arrived Calcutta, the suffering and poverty made such a deep impression on her that she quit her job as a teacher in her convent school and devoted herself to working among the poorest of the poor in the slums. She showed her sympathy and kindness toward all the needy she encountered.
Mother Teresa once said, “Live like animals but die like angels.”
At the very beginning her mission to help the poor in Calcutta, she had no funds, but she still tried her best to help everyone she met, no matter whether they were abandoned babies or people suffering from incurable diseases. Mother Teresa gave them a home and showed her kindness by taking care of them even though she understood that they may not be cured. She wanted them to feel love and kindness before their death.
We should learn from Mother Teresa. Try our best to show our kindness to everyone who is in need in our daily life.
