Welcome back to school! I am so grateful that God has guided me to the STC family and I hope you all had a wonderful summer break. It’s truly exciting to see your smiling faces as we begin another year of learning together.
First, I would like to express my gratitude to Dr Tang, our former Principal, for her leadership over the past 7 years. I have been truly impressed by the hard work and commitment of our team in providing the best for our students under the leadership of our former principals throughout the years.
To our new teachers and students, I want to extend a warm welcome. We are happy to have you here and we pray that God will bless you with a smooth transition into our community.
The theme of our morning prayers in September is “Respect and strengthen oneself, maintain strict discipline.” “Respect” means valuing and accepting others’ feelings and views as equals. “Self-discipline” is about controlling our actions with a clear focus so that we can “strengthen” ourselves, whether physically, psychologically or mentally, to achieve our goals.
At STC, each of us has an important role to play in creating a positive learning and teaching environment. Let this theme in September remind us to discipline ourselves in pursuit of our hopes for this school year.
Now, let’s take a moment to reflect on hope. What does “hope” mean to you? Even in a moment of despair, can you see a glimmer of hope?
“Hope” carries our positive expectations for the future. It is more than a feel-good emotion. It is an action-oriented strength. It is about having the motivation and confidence to take action and achieve our goals. Hope reminds us that we can create effective paths to reach our desired futures. As the saying goes: our hope is in our hands.
Let us pray together with “The Jubilee Prayer 2025” for the strength to act on our hopes this year.
