Next week is the last week of the examination. Are you still working hard for your revision? Have you faced any difficulties during your studies? The temptation of your mobile phone? Your television? Or your computer games?
Today let me share the story of a singer Jay Chou (周杰倫) with you. In 1997, he was just a music production assistant. Those days, music production assistants had a low salary and long working hours. However, he still loved his job because this is the only way to chase his musical dream. One day, he tried to write a song and showed it to his boss. His boss just dumped the song into rubbish bin without looking at any details of the song. However, Jay did not give up and he kept on writing songs to his boss every day. In 1999, he finally got a chance from his boss, but he was required to write 50 songs in 10 days and his boss will only take 10 songs for his album. With the limitation of time, most of the music creators will reject this job. But, Jay knew that this was the biggest opportunity for him, so he accepted it. During those days, Jay just ate instant noodles when he was hungry and took a nap in a corner of his studio when he was tired. In this way, Jay really took out 50 songs in just 10 days and each of them was beautifully written. The next year, he published the first album “JAY” and won the best popular album, best producer awards in the Taiwan Pop Music Golden Melody Awards.
Many of you may think the interim examination as a suffer but remember the purpose of examination is to consolidate and test your knowledge which can help you learn. Even if you find this exam so stressful, I hope you can remember the story of Jay and go along with your ups and downs. Remember when the going gets tough the tough gets going. Now is the middle of the exam, I hope all of you can work hard for the remaining days.
