A man in the desert

Faith is to believe what you do not see. Together with hope, you are able to see what you believe despite of the darkness.

Today, I would like to share with you the message of Faith and Hope by a story calls “A man in the desert”.

It was a very hot day. Andrew got lost his way in the desert. He couldn’t find his way back and the water in his bottle was completely dried. He was going to die due to dehydration.
As he struggled walking in the desert, he saw a small hut at a distance.
He opened the door and found nobody was there. It seemed like the place has been abandoned for a long time.He was surprised to see a very old hand water pump that connected with pipeline to the underground.

Then he started pumping for many times but there was no sign of water. Andrew was disappointed.
He started searching the hut for any other source of water. Then, he found an old bottle with water hidden in the corner with a piece of paper attached to it.
When he was about the drink the water, Andrew noticed that something was written in the paper, “Please use this water to start the pump. It works. After you have done, don’t forget to refill the bottle for the next user.” Beside the words, there was a map to show the direction to the nearby village.

After reading the message in the paper, he went into dilemma “Will the old pump work, if I use this water?”
“Can I trust what is written in the paper? If it is false, then my last source of water will be wasted”.
He hesitated for a moment. Then, he believed that God would protect him and keep him safe. So, he closed his eyes and prayed.
Then, he poured the water from the bottle into the pump and started pumping it.
Soon, he heard a bubbling sound and water started pouring out.

He was delighted. He drank the water and filled his bottle. Then he refilled the old bottle from the hut.
He was happy that his faith and belief in God saved his life.
Then he added some more word in the paper “Have faith. Be hopeful. It works”. And he left the hut happily.

Fellow students, in your lives, there will be times where you need faith and hope to move forward. Once you had faith and hope, regardless of the outcome, please continue your efforts towards it. Because at the moment you start believing, you will definitely gain more than you want.
