臨近聖誕，不少人也會草擬一張購物清單，方便購買禮物送贈親友，獎勵自己。我也想請大家在心中草擬一張清單，列出你人生中最渴望得到的東西，同學一邊想的時候，就讓我先分享一個故事—— 有一天，一個善良的農夫去耕種，他將一塊麵包放在旁邊，打算休息時吃。辛勞了半日，農夫餓了，卻發現麵包不見了。原來，一隻小魔鬼偷走了麵包，並且躲在旁邊等農夫罵人，誰知農夫卻說：「算吧，我不會因此餓死。拿麵包的人，應該比我更需要吃。」 沒令窮農夫變壞，小魔鬼非常失望，於是他變身成農夫的工人；由於小魔鬼能預知何時會有飢荒，之後幾年，小魔鬼一直指點農夫要在哪些地區耕種，所以，當其他農夫都因天災而失收的時候，農夫的收成一直也很好，而且愈來愈富有。 一天，小魔鬼帶大魔鬼到農夫家中去。農夫正在宴客，他的妻子不小心把酒打瀉了，農夫很憤怒，立時大發脾氣。然後，農夫與一班客人對飲，喝下幾杯，他們開始爭執、對罵，甚至打鬥起來。 大魔鬼很高興，問：「你是怎樣令農夫變質的？」小魔鬼說：「我只是讓他擁有比自身需要更多的東西而已。一開始，他不介意失去唯一的麵包；但當他擁有比自身需要更多時，他就會沉溺於享樂和貪念中。」 原來，擁有比自身需要更多的東西，會令我們離善更遠，心胸更狹窄，亦更不快樂。農夫的經歷，會否也是你與我的寫照？ 剛才請同學草擬的清單，是我中學時，一位老師佈置的堂課。我記得，多數人渴望得到的，也是遊戲機、電話、金錢之類；但其中一位同學的答案，卻令人意外，他在清單上只寫上一個字——主。他說，只要有天主，他真正需要的將不再欠缺。 我們未必全都有宗教信仰，但這位同學的答案提醒了我們，原來人生中的需要可以如此純粹。在消費至上的社會，大量廣告經常慫恿我們去買最新、最名貴的東西，似乎這樣就會快樂，但若非真正需要，我們就不會真正滿足，很快又會感到空虛。當有一日走到生命盡頭，又有幾多人會發現，原來我們最眷戀的，無非是早已在身邊默默愛護我們的親朋摯友？所以，聖誕節，最重要的，不是聖誕樹下有多少禮物，而是有多少愛護你的人，願意為你裝扮成那棵聖誕樹。同樣，親友最渴望從你手中接過的，亦不是那些價值有限的禮物，而只是你的關注和陪伴。 生命中的誘惑太多，人很容易於繁雜的慾望中迷失。希望同學能返璞歸真，重新發現自己真正在乎、渴望的東西，或者，我們也能從疏淡、簡樸的生活中，拾獲真正的滿足與快樂，同時學會分享天主賜給我們最珍貴的禮物——愛。 Ms. Yeung NS20 December 2022
