S6 OLE RE Activity: The Gifts of My School Journey: What I Am Thankful For

Strolling Down Memory Lane and Listening to Our Inner Voices

By 6L Candy Fan

“The Gifts of My School Journey: What I Am Thankful For,” run by We Flow, helps students understand themselves by revisiting past experiences. It is based on the concept of self-exploration and the discovery of inner strength through various important stages of life. We met diverse individuals with unique talents at different stages of life, and we usually show our enthusiasm or admiration for them. Yet, when it comes to ourselves, how many of us can recognize our strengths at a glance? As S6 students, facing anxiety from the HKDSE, an unknown future, and academic stress, we often doubt our abilities, gradually ignoring our potential or neglecting the will within us. This program came at a good time as it has granted us students’ precious opportunities to explore and experience stories from others in our city. Through storytelling and interactive games, we were able to connect personally and recognize our own unique skills, abilities, and values. We often underestimate our power and are unwilling to step out of our comfort zones. Often times, we cling to the belief that academic performance defines our lives. These thoughts changed as I learned that we should discover our abilities by analyzing our interests and preferences, and also consider traits such as being caring, determined, and punctual. Though these traits may seem trivial, they are fundamental in shaping our personalities and personal skills, helping everyone find their strengths and confidence. We Flow organized a thought-provoking program that enabled us to reflect, elevating our sense of self-fulfilment in Maslow’s theory through self-discovery.
