S5 RE Activity – Micro Film Appreciation and Sharing Session: Three Crossroads in Life

For the OLE activity this Friday, S5 students gathered in the Lecture Theatre to watch an episode of the micro movie Love and Life, produced by the Hong Kong Catholic organization ‘Joy of Life’. The episode discussed the moral dilemma faced by a father who had to choose whether to give up the foetus to save his wife’s life.

An angel, played by Dicky Cheung, a Catholic actor, successfully convinced the father that only God has the right to decide the life and death of any human being.

Through the sharing by Connie, the speaker, we learned about the many possibilities within God’s plan to save both the mother and foetus. The story was to emphasize that abortion is never an option.

She shared her experiences as a consultant to Catholic couples facing struggles with pregnancy and abortion. Listening to her past cases prompted us to reflect on our attitudes towards family planning and the importance of being responsible for each decision we make and bearing its consequences.

The key takeaway from today is to educate ourselves about every available option, whether it involves giving birth and raising a child or considering abortion. We must not treat the matter of life frivolously, as every life is a creation, gift, and grace from God.
