Turning Academic Pressure into Sand Art Masterpieces

On 10 February 2026, Room 122 was transformed into a vibrant studio as students dived into the tactile world of the Sand Art Workshop. The event offered a welcome pause from fast-paced academic life, inviting Shungtakians to trade their pens and screens for the soothing textures of sand.

Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, students explored a variety of layering and pouring techniques. From intricate gradients to bold, geometric patterns, the workshop allowed each participant to showcase their individuality through unique glass vessels. The rhythmic nature of the craft—the steady flow of sand and the quiet precision of the work—quickly turned the room into a space of collective focus.

For many, the session served as a vital mental health break. One student shared his personal reflection on the experience:

“The moment I started working with the sand, a sense of calm just washed over me. The process was so immersive that I completely forgot about my upcoming tests and assignments for a while. It wasn’t just about making something pretty; it was about finally being able to quiet the mental noise and just enjoy the moment.”

The workshop concluded with a gallery of colourful creations and, more importantly, a group of students who felt refreshed and inspired. By turning ‘stress into art’, the event proved that a little creativity goes a long way in maintaining a balanced student life.
