The Jury’s Dilemma: How a ‘Rare’ Case Led Us to Victory

During Chinese New Year Holiday, we, as Mock Trial team members, had the opportunity to showcase the legal knowledge and ideas we have developed throughout our preparation. Starting at 9:30 a.m., the competition was fierce from the very beginning. Both our team and our opponents were well-prepared in terms of presenting strong arguments and compelling cases. The jury found themselves in a difficult position when reaching a decision—a case that the judge remarked was ‘rare’. This was the first time we had encountered such a situation as well. The intense competition throughout the process made our victory even more satisfying. Two of our team members received awards for Best Lawyer and Best Witness, which was a proud moment for all of us.

This experience reminded us of the importance of careful planning and preparation, as it allowed us to remain strong even when the case was not easy to win. To sum up, the competition was a valuable experience that deepened our interest in and knowledge of the law. We hope to continue such good work in the final rounds and build on this success in the future.
