Students Engage in Japanese Youkai LARP

On 26 September, 2025, Guide Light members gathered at the ELCHK Tuen Mun Integrated Youth Service Centre located in Siu Hong for an exhilarating Live Action Role-Playing (LARP) event organized by the Guidance Team, centering around the darker aspects of Japanese youkai folklore.

Participants stepped into a world where mythical creatures, seeking eternal life, confronted moral dilemmas involving the sacrifice of villagers. The event took place in a dimly lit room, enhanced by spooky decorations that captured the essence of ancient legends. Students engaged in immersive storytelling and strategic quests, exploring themes of sacrifice, survival, and the consequences of immortality.

Throughout the session, players made challenging decisions that sparked deep discussions about folklore and ethics, enriching their understanding of cultural narratives. The LARP provided a unique opportunity for students to delve into complex themes, fostering creativity and critical thinking. The engaging atmosphere and rich storytelling not only entertained them but also helped them appreciate cultural stories more deeply. Many left feeling accomplished and excited to continue exploring the fascinating world of folklore in future adventures.
