Wednesday, 30 April 2025SU: Student Exchange Program with HKFYG Lee Shau Kee College: My Memorable Visit
On March 14, 2025, the Students’ Union, Detello, organized a student exchange program at HKFYG Lee Shau Kee College, where we spent a day studying and experiencing their unique educational environment. This is our sharing of that wonderful experience.
2M Issac Ng: Last Friday, I had the opportunity to visit HLC College, and it was an interesting experience! First, I want to thank my buddy Kayson, who was incredibly friendly and made me feel welcomed throughout my visit. Having someone guide you in a new place is truly wonderful! One of the most impressive aspects of HLC was their use of e-learning. The incorporation of technology into lessons made learning engaging and fun, allowing me to participate in interactive activities. I also met many new friends, which made my visit even more memorable.
2J Ally: The morning assembly at HLC is quite different from ours. It takes place in the school hall, where students can use PowerPoint for presentations. Additionally, they have a 40-minute reading period before lessons, allowing classmates to share their favorite books, which is much longer than what we have. Moreover, the teaching methods at HLC are unique. They primarily use iPads with an app called Goodnotes for lessons, and in Chinese classes, they utilize VR to explore the environment of Sheung Wan, enhancing students’ understanding of the subject matter.
2L Ella Chan: I found that the students at HLC were enthusiastic and welcoming. Initially, I thought it would be awkward being new, but I felt right at home. A memorable moment for me was during lunch when there was no cutlery left, and my buddy and friends quickly lent me theirs, demonstrating their kindness and generosity.
2J Mini Hon: I was thrilled by the focus on creativity and teamwork at HLC. The drama performances, especially the English drama “Lifeline,” showcased amazing talent as students collaborated to bring their ideas to life on stage. This visit highlighted the importance of a holistic education that embraces creativity, collaboration, and active learning.
In conclusion, our trip to HLC College was an incredible experience. We learned a lot, made new friends, and gained valuable insights into a different educational approach. Thank you for listening!
