The Forum

S4 and S5 Shung Tak Forum had been held for Shungtakians to practise the skills of conducting research, critical thinking and presentation. Teachers were also invited at the end of the Forum to share their feedback on the topics.
The topic for S4 was whether schools should organise Dress Casual Days to collect donations. Our guest teacher shared the purpose of having these days and emphasised that the amount of money we donate depends on ourselves. Students had the option not to join. It was also a chance to raise awareness of the cause and to do our little part to help that cause.
For S5, the topic was on the use of artificial intelligence in schools. Our guest teacher shared about the development of AI and clarified some misunderstandings. He mentioned that the problem is not using AI but rather it is on how it can be used. Certainly, if students use it in the wrong way, they would get into trouble especially if they try to pass off the work of AI as their own. This is cheating.
What we need to learn then is how to use AI to facilitate our learning so that we can improve. The Forum was a time for us to express our views, to see a matter from different perspectives and to carefully consider a response. It was a time to grow in our learning journey.
