The 14th February was a special day for our class, 3L. We had the chance to host games and chat with the elderly at St James’ Settlement Everwise Day Care Centre. Our class worked with each other to make sure that we prepared the games well so that the event could run smoothly. We were thrilled that the elderly were really active in participating in our games. They may be seniors, but they really were happy, engaged and playful. What was even more touching was their sharing of their personal stories with us. Of course, the event also had some challenges. Although we had prepared well, we had to make some changes for the elderly who were a bit reluctant to speak to us; but even more challenging was to make changes to our games as the elderly were better at playing our games than we had expected. Through this activity, we strengthened our ability to work with each other, and in our understanding of those in need. There are many more people out there in society who are in need of our help. Let us all do our part and help those we see around us who are in need.

在2月14日這個特別的日子，我和同學跟隨老師到屯門 的一間長者護理中心做義工。起初我們有一點緊張，因為不清楚準備的遊戲是否適合長者。但在我們真正去到中心後，才發現我們的擔心和緊張是不需要的。在司儀介紹時，有些長者已急不及待和同學們聊天，他們和我們分享家庭，平日的娛樂活動等。他們也會積極地配合我們玩遊戲，大家都樂在其中，我們甚至還一起合唱一曲「上海灘」。看到他們的笑容時，讓我明白付出是值得的，能為長者帶來歡樂而充滿滿足感。這次的經歷，讓我學會 了如何更有耐心地傾聽他們，也讓我真正地感受到助人的快樂。不但讓我在心靈上得到滿足，而且也讓我明白了愛與關懷的重要，將我們所得到的愛傳遞到社會的每一個角落，相信這就是做義工的真正意義吧！
