Mental Health Talk for Parents

To enhance family mental health, the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong and the Mental Health Foundation HK hosted a family-centered seminar “Balancing Mental Health and Academic Success” at Yuen Long Catholic Secondary School on May 3, 2025. This event was supported by seven Catholic primary and secondary schools in the Yuen Long and Tuen Mun.

A highlight of the seminar was a talk by Dr William Chui Wing-ho, a psychiatrist who shared his professional insights on mental health. Dr Chui discussed how to maintain good mental well-being amid the pressures of academic life.

He helped parents understand the psychological challenges that teens face while offering practical strategies for supporting their children. The seminar aimed not only to educate parents but also to strengthen parent-child relationships.

Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences, and gain valuable insights from Dr Chui’s expertise.

It also provided a unique opportunity for parents to take a break from their busy schedules and explore ways to achieve a balance between academic demands and mental health.
