Two schoolmates and I joined the “Katso Camp 2025,” organised by DYCHK on 22–23 November. I am glad that I was chosen to join the camp. It was a great opportunity to learn how to become a good leader and to interact with students from other schools.
During the camp, we completed many activities, such as finding crosses around the campsite and finishing different tasks at each checkpoint, including passing a ball with chopsticks. These games taught me that, as a leader, I need to be more proactive, listen to others, and help my teammates when they are in need. The games and the evening prayer also taught me that a team is a group of people with different talents who work together to complement one another’s weaknesses with their strengths. If teammates do not cooperate, the team can never be successful.
My most memorable experience was a Lego-building game. I was especially impressed by this activity because I took on both the roles of observer and listener, and each position gave me a different experience. The first time, as an observer, I had to look at the model carefully and give instructions to my groupmates so that our Lego model would look exactly the same. During the game, I realised that my partner and I had noticed some differences in our observations, so we decided to double-check to make sure our group would not be questioned. From this, I learned that as a leader, I should stay focused and communicate clearly with my teammates.
The second time, I was the one listening to the instructions and building the Lego. While building, I found it quite difficult to complete the task when the instructions were unclear. Through this experience, I learned that teamwork and clear communication are very important if we want to finish our tasks successfully.
On the second day, we visited St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fanling. The church was very large and spectacular with elements of light that made the interior bright and peaceful. The interior design matches its theme of ‘Death and Resurrection’. After the visit, we attended a mass at the old section of the church.
Looking back at the whole camp, I not only made new friends but also learned how to become a good leader.
