Hong Kong Secondary School Short-Essay Competition 2025

We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Shungtakians—Ryan Lee, Yody Chan, and Michelle Yuen, all from 6J—in the ‘AI and Me’ Hong Kong Secondary School Short-Essay Writing Award, organised by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s Department of English and Communication. Ryan, Yody, and Michelle earned the Gold, Silver, and Merit awards, respectively, showcasing their exceptional talent.

On 19th September, we were honoured to attend the awards presentation ceremony, where Faculty Dean Prof. Li Ping highlighted the unique creativity and potential of humans that AI cannot replicate. As we mapped out our pieces, we researched current uses and developments in AI and reflected on how it influences our daily lives and society. This has provided us with a deeper and clearer perspective on technological advancements, equipping us to be more informed and responsible users of AI. Technology is ever-changing, and AI is ever-improving. In the digital world, the development of AI will only accelerate in the future. The field of AI is yet to be thoroughly explored. As students, we can use AI as a tool for learning, but we must pay attention to ethical AI development in this process. We can also use AI to boost and enhance our abilities, but we should not solely rely on it to do our work for us. By using AI wisely, we can create a smarter, more equitable future.
