The Mass commenced with the lighting of candles held by us privileged enough to receive this holy sacrament. Hundreds of candles flickered to life in the ceremony creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
This was followed by the reading of the Bible. Through the readings, we learned about Jesus’ profound sacrifice on the cross and his resurrection 2,000 years ago.
The highlight of the Mass, my receiving of the sacrament, came after these moving events. As I listened to the choir’s uplifting melodies, I felt the priest gently draw a cross on my forehead, enveloping me in the warmth of Jesus’ love.
In that moment, I experienced an indescribable feeling — that feeling of Jesus Himself inviting me to become His follower, just as he did our patron saints of Peter and Paul.
Please pray for me and all those who received this holy sacrament at St. Peter and Paul Church, Yuen Long. Pray that we all will deepen our faith and strengthen our beliefs in God the Almighty Father. I will forever remember the words of 1 John 4:19: “We love because He first loved us.” Receiving this sacrament was an official receipt of this love of God.
