From September 5th to 6th, I attended the Leadership Training Camp at Breakthrough Youth Village with my schoolmates and teachers. Originally scheduled for July, the camp was postponed due to bad weather, but the experience proved to be rewarding.
Our journey began with excited conversations about expectations. Upon arrival, we met the friendly staff and learned about the challenges ahead, particularly those related to rock climbing.
Before dinner, we enjoyed the stunning view of Tolo Harbour, and later, Mr. Kwan inspired us with the concept of “servant leadership” and brought us some snacks as encouragement. We kicked off our activities with dodgeball, followed by indoor rock climbing in groups. Supporting each other while climbing fostered teamwork and trust.
On day two, we faced taller outdoor climbs and a thrilling rope course. The wind added excitement, and only a few reached the top, but every attempt was met with encouragement. The camp taught us the value of resilience and the importance of collaboration. Tired yet fulfilled, I discovered strengths I didn’t know I had.
This transformative experience is a precious memory I’ll always cherish, reminding me that authentic leadership begins with uplifting others.
