We were thrilled to volunteer as English tutors at Pay Love Forward (PLF), an organization that provides English classes for underprivileged children—especially during the newly emerged sports event to promote English learning on July 1st. In the morning, we Shungtakians served as group leaders, guiding students through playing sports like dodgebee and floorball. These activities allowed everyone to enjoy themselves and get some exercise after exams. We even participated in a Bean Bag Toss match to determine the winning team, and the cheers from our groups were amazing!
In the afternoon, the prize-giving ceremony was held to recognize students’ efforts. We believe this recognition will boost their confidence and interest in learning. As a surprise, we, the tutors also received souvenirs and certificates for our dedication to our students in the programme.
The day at Pay Love Forward was truly inspiring and enjoyable. One insightful lesson we learned was: learning is a journey, and learning is also the journey. As volunteers and teachers, we put effort into preparing for classes and strive to pass our knowledge on to our students. The preparation is a journey of learning for both us and our students. By dedicating ourselves to meaningful volunteer work, we also cultivated a positive mindset and become more determined to help others. This, too, is part of the journey of learning.
Thank you, Pay Love Forward, for this incredible opportunity to engage with the community. Let’s continue to step forward and do our best to give service to others.
