A Meaningful Day of Flag Selling

By 5L Coco Lee

On 15 November, Form 5 students from our school volunteered to sell flags for the Community Chest in Tin Shui Wai and Yuen Long. For most of us, it was our first time experiencing flag-selling, but we soon found it rewarding. Not only were we able to help people in need, but we also felt the warmth and kindness of our community through this meaningful activity. During the flag-selling, many people were willing to buy flags. Quite a number approached us proactively, and it was surprising to see some shopkeepers come out specifically to donate money. We even received words of encouragement from them, which felt heartwarming and motivational. Some parents also encouraged their children to put coins into our flag bags. Thanks to this activity, we truly felt the warmth of our society and the joy of contributing to a good cause. As our flag bags grew heavier, so did our sense of accomplishment, knowing that more people in need would benefit. In the future, we look forward to continuing to embrace the power of compassion and the warmth of human connection by participating in more volunteer activities.
