Our Learning Journey
The highly anticipated Citizenship and Social Development (CS) Study Tour took place from 26th April to 30th April, during which all S5 students got the chance to visit and to learn more about our motherland, China. Our trip took the one hundred plus students and ten teachers to the beautiful, vibrant, and bustling city of Shanghai where we spent five meaningful days. During this tour, we were able to explore the intricacies of this modernised metropolis — from enjoying the stunning and scenic views of the largest river in Shanghai, HuangPu River which is also known as the Mother River of Shanghai; to appreciating the towering skyscrapers on both sides of the river; to learning more about our motherland’s technological development at the Shanghai Expo Museum.
All experiences were truly memorable, and they indeed broadened our horizons. The visits to Guangfulin Relics Park and Jiangnan Shipyard, acknowledging the efforts of the Chinese government in military and cultural aspects, also enriched our knowledge. The study tour was a rewarding excursion as it fostered within us a deeper understanding of our country. In the past, I thought that China’s strength mainly stemmed from its economic power; however, after the tour, I now understand that the escalating global influence of China is the result of the government’s never-ending efforts in developing all aspects of our country.
I am grateful to the Education Bureau and the school for making this Shanghai Study Tour an enormous success. I have no doubt that all participants have greatly benefitted from the experience and will remember it for a long time to come.
