Exploring the World of Law: Our Mock Trial Workshop Experience
On October 19, our Mock Trial team had an exciting opportunity to dive into the world of law at an interactive workshop!
This event not only prepared us for the upcoming Mock Trial competitions but also helped us bond as a team while gaining deeper insights into Hong Kong’s legal system. The day was filled with fun and challenging activities aimed at achieving these goals. We kicked things off with an icebreaker, tasked with building a simple “house” using basic tools. Next, we teamed up with students from two other schools to tackle a project: constructing a six-meter-long “bridge” to transport a ball! This was a tough test of our teamwork and engineering skills, but the sense of accomplishment when we succeeded was electrifying! The excitement continued with an engaging scenario where we imagined ourselves stranded in a small rescue boat after an accident, armed with limited resources.
We collaborated with students from other schools to answer law-related questions, earning “materials” to help us “survive.” This part was particularly tricky, as we often had to think outside the box to make the most of what we had, even when many materials weren’t very useful. After plenty of brainstorming and spirited discussions, we managed to find solutions that worked! The highlight of the day was a case related to our earlier scenario, followed by a mock trial discussion. Debating the guilt of the individual involved was exhilarating! This experience gave us a fascinating glimpse into the trial process and significantly enriched our understanding of legal concepts. Attending the Mock Trial workshop was not just about learning more about the law; it was about forging stronger relationships and honing our teamwork skills. With this positive experience kicking off our Mock Trial journey, we can’t wait to see what other exciting activities lie ahead!
