On April 6, Shungtakians had a splendid time at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium enjoying the ‘International A Cappella Extravaganza 2024’ organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. The Extravaganza 2024 brought together a cappella teams from around the world. The amazing performers included the Sons of the Pitches from the UK, Rabbit Cat from Japan, the Beat Poetry Club from Austria, and Senza A Cappella from Hong Kong. They sang a variety of famous songs such as “Believer,” “This Girl is on Fire,” and even some of their original songs. Together with the vocal percussion, simple movements, and dances, the sense of rhythm was brought to another level, making the performance more dynamic and amazing. We were all moved by this fascinating show.
My favourite performance was the rendition of “Believer” by the Sons of the Pitches. They were the first group to perform, and their engaging performance quickly shook up the atmosphere. Witnessing everyone swaying with finger lights to the beat, I was impressed by their liveliness. They were certainly born to perform on stage. This unforgettable show aims to arouse the interest in a cappella — a definite inspiration. We can all discover the joy of singing in a team and create wonderful music with only vocals and the harmony of our voices blending as one.
