On October 31st, our S.4 and the S.5 ERS students participated in an activity that allowed us to visit the elderly in Tin Yuet Estate. It was a great opportunity to spend time with the elderly and to get to know them better. As the Bible says, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). During our conversations with the elderly, we learned that they each face unique challenges that often lead to feelings of loneliness. While a brief chat may seem insignificant to us, it brought genuine gratitude and happiness to them. What felt like a small gesture for us became a meaningful moment for them. This experience prompted us to reflect: when we are busy enjoying our own lives, do we take the time to connect with the elderly around us? Often, when they simply wish to spend time with us, we respond with excuses about being too busy. If we tried to spend more time with the elderly in our lives, they would undoubtedly feel blessed and appreciative of those moments shared with family.
