S2 Volunteer Day

S2 Volunteer Day by 2J Vincy Chung

On 14th March 2025, my class, 2J, set off for the Yuen Long Town Hall to do some voluntary work with ethnic minority children who were all kindergartners. To prepare for this day, we underwent training a week earlier. Our class was divided into 5 groups, and for my group, we oversaw making crafts for the children, while the other groups were tasked with making games for them to play.

Lots of things had to be taken into consideration. For example, the difficulty level, the design of the games, the rules, and the overall enjoyment level. We all wanted to make this day a memorable occasion for both the children and for us too.

When the day arrived, we all carried our equipment for the games and the crafts to Yuen Long Town Hall. Once we got inside the hall, we saw lots of children beaming with excitement.

The most exciting game was called ‘Pass the Ball’, which basically required the children to connect tubes to create a bridge for ping pong balls to pass through. This game was very action-packed. The kids ran around extending the bridge to make sure the balls didn’t fall out. The whole room was filled with laughter.

Even the parents had fun helping their children complete the game. The game ended with us handing out the crafts, the bracelets, as gifts. That day was filled with joy and excitement.

We all learnt a lot about responsibility and caring for others during our voluntary journey. This is certainly a day we will never forget.
